Zense I Ching Ltd (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Zense I Ching mobile application (“the App”) and website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it under applicable data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Our Privacy-by-Design Principles

We have built Zense I Ching from the ground up to protect your anonymity:

  • No User Accounts: You do not need to provide your name, email address, or any personal credentials to use the App.
  • No Advertising: We do not use advertising SDKs, serve third-party ads, or track your behavior for marketing profiling.
  • No Analytics Tracking: We do not use analytics tracking or crash-reporting tools (such as Firebase or Sentry) that monitor your digital footprints.
  • No Cloud Reading History: Your inquiry questions and AI-generated responses are processed in real-time and are dropped from our cloud infrastructure once delivered.

3. Information We Collect and Process

3.1 Anonymous Device Token (Free Tier)

If you use the App without a subscription, you are identified purely by an anonymous device token generated locally on your device. This token has no connection to your real-world identity and is used solely to securely manage and track your free credit allocation.

3.2 Subscription and Transaction Identifiers (Paid Tier)

If you purchase a subscription or top-up credit packs, Apple Inc. processes the financial transaction entirely. We receive only an anonymous transaction identifier and digital receipt state from Apple to confirm your purchase and update your server-side credit balances. We never receive or store your payment card details, billing address, or Apple ID email address.

3.3 Inquiry Questions and Card Selections

When you type a question and draw cards, this text and numerical card mapping are transmitted to our AI infrastructure in real-time to generate your reading. We do not store your questions or reading content on our servers after your reading is delivered. Your questions are never linked to an identity and are not used to train AI models.

3.4 Reading History (Local Storage Only)

Your historical readings are stored locally on your device only, up to a maximum of 100 entries. Once this limit is reached, the oldest entries are automatically overwritten. Because this data remains on your physical device and never hits our servers, we cannot recover it if you delete the App, reset your device, or lose your phone. Backing up your favourite readings is entirely your responsibility.

3.5 Credit Balance and Subscription Status

To ensure accurate entitlement management across app sessions, your current remaining credit balance and subscription status are stored securely on our backend cloud infrastructure. This data is strictly linked to your anonymous device token or transaction identifier — never to a personal identity.

4. Information We Explicitly Do Not Collect

We do not collect or access:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or social media identifiers.
  • Geographical location data.
  • Device advertising identifiers (IDFA or IDFV).
  • Browsing behaviors, app usage metrics, or automatic crash/performance reports.

5. How We Use Your Information

The limited, non-identifiable information we process is used solely to:

  • Deliver real-time AI-generated interpretations in response to your inquiries.
  • Manage and safeguard your free credit allocations.
  • Verify active subscription states, top-up credit counts, and facilitate Apple's "Restore Purchases" workflow if you change devices.
  • Comply with our legal and regulatory requirements.

6. Third-Party Infrastructure Providers

The App relies on trusted, security-certified external service providers to function. Each operates under its own respective privacy framework:

  • 6.1 AI Processing Service: We use a third-party AI processing service to generate interpretations based on your inquiries. The service is configured to process your inquiries and generated readings only for the purpose of providing the requested response. We do not intentionally retain your inquiries or generated readings on our own servers after processing, except where temporary processing is technically necessary to provide the service or where retention is required by applicable law.
  • 6.2 Apple App Store and In-App Purchases: Handles all payment logistics, transactions, and store delivery. Subject to Apple's standard Privacy Policy and App Store Terms.
  • 6.3 Subscription Management Infrastructure: We use secure third-party subscription validation infrastructure to verify your subscription entitlements and manage credit balances. This service processes only your anonymous transaction identifier and subscription status.
  • 6.4 Cloud Hosting and Database Infrastructure: Our server-side services (credit balances and subscription status) are hosted on secure, industry-standard third-party cloud hosting and database providers. Data stored on these servers is limited to anonymous identifiers and credit/subscription records with no connection to your personal identity.

7. Data Retention & Safeguards

  • Retention: Text inquiries are wiped instantly after delivery. Operational device tokens and remaining credit counts are retained as long as your app installation remains active or until a verified deletion request is processed, where applicable. Subscription transaction logs are archived securely as required by UK financial record-keeping regulations.
  • Security: We protect data utilising Secure Socket Layer (SSL) / Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption protocols for all data moving in transit between your phone and our endpoint servers, alongside restrictive server-side access controls. However, no method of digital storage or internet transmission is 100% secure.

8. International Data Transfers

To provide the App, we use third-party service providers and cloud-based infrastructure that may process limited information in countries outside the United Kingdom, including the United States. Where such international transfers occur, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including reliance on recognised adequacy regulations, standard contractual clauses, or other lawful transfer mechanisms where required under applicable UK data protection laws.

9. Age Ratings and Children's Privacy

Zense I Ching is intended strictly for users who are at least 18 years of age (or the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction). The age rating displayed in the Apple App Store is determined by Apple's own rating system and does not change our intended user eligibility of 18 years or older.

We do not knowingly process personal data from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe that a person under 18 has accessed the App or that we have processed personal data relating to such an individual, please contact us at support@zenseiching.com. We will take reasonable steps to investigate the matter and, where appropriate, delete any associated information under our control in accordance with applicable law.

10. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), you have rights regarding your personal data, including the rights to request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and, where applicable, data portability or objection to processing.

Because our architecture is designed to minimise the collection of personal information and does not require user accounts, we are generally unable to identify records using your name or email address. To help us locate any information associated with your use of the App, we may ask you to provide certain technical information reasonably necessary to identify the relevant records. 11. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically to adapt to changing legal frameworks or feature rollouts. Significant adjustments will be flagged by moving the “Last Updated” date at the top of this statement. Your ongoing interaction with the App post-revision signifies agreement with the new conditions. If you object to any future terms, you must remove the app and disable any auto-renewals in your Apple ID settings.
